Matthew had an ENT appointment this morning, so I made plans to take him back to school after lunch, and made arrangements for Michael to have a play date,while Matthew & I had a long overdue lunch date.
Matthew is a "rule follower" and a "people pleaser", so he was excited, but also very worried about missing school, and his work, etc. He must have asked me a million times, what time it was....We decided to go
here, Matthew had never been, and I used to work here, for a different owner, many years ago. Matthew has been "picky" for years and had just recently started eating so much more..... Matthew was so excited to try somewhere new and to be out to lunch with just Mom and him.
We ordered several things....Matthew had Udon noddles and I had a grilled chicken sandwich with an "Asian flair", we also shared sweet potato fries and sticky rice. Poor Matthew had a constant runny nose from the spice, but he was loving it! We had a nice lunch and skipped to the car to head back to school. Matthew said" Mommy this was the best day ever in my life". A few seconds later he said "Do you know why it was the best day ever Mom? It was because I got to spend it with you." "I can see my friends any time, but I can't always spend the day with you."
While I was quietly "sniffling" (I am sure you understand), I told him that it was one of my best days too, but that the best day with him for me, was the day that he was born :)
I realized today that it really is impotant to give each of our kids one on one time. Michael gets it so much more with me, because he is not in school yet, but for Matthew and I, it had been too long! I am looking forward to my next "date", with the sweetest 7 year boy that old I know!
I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him.
