Hi/Lo Thursday

"Hi/Lo Thursday" posts started on the Riggs Family Blog
(http://www.riggsfamilyblog.com/)
If you have not visited their blog, you should...it is worth the read!
They could really use our prayers right now for Abby & the whole family!

My Hi's this week..

Matthew's class led in chapel this week and he had two speaking parts. I was so proud of him, I was proud of the whole class. It actually made me tear up to hear them all talk about love, and Jesus. I feel so blessed that he is in such a wonderful school, with the best families!
We have a 4 day weekend coming up! Matthew is off tomorrow and Monday! I love days off from school :)

Valentine's Day- I love it! I love chocolate covered strawberries too :)

Abby is coming home....AMEN!

My Lo's this week..

I stumbled across a few new blogs recently and have felt so sad and anxious for these people. I tend to "carry" people's grief with me. This has been a lo for me this week for sure.

Please keep these families in your prayers!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.

Tuesday Treats.....

*UPDATE...These were delicious, would work well for all holidays :)
Okay, I found this recipe on this web-site and I think they look pretty yummy! We are going to our friends house for dinner on Valentines Day. I am bringing a couple of things, and dessert is one of them. This might be the "one"....

If anyone else has a favorite Valentine's Day recipe, please share :)

(Let's Make) Whoopie Pies

Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cups cocoa
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 stick butter (1/2 cup), softened
1 cup firmly packed light-brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
White crystal sugar
Filling:
3/4 stick unsalted butter (6 tablespoons), softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1 jar (7-1/2 ounces) marshmallow cream, such as Marshmallow Fluff
2 teaspoons vanilla
Red food coloring

Directions
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 2 large baking sheets. In medium bowl, combine flour, cocoa, and baking soda. In large bowl, with mixer on high speed, beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add egg and vanilla, and beat to combine. Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk in small batches, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix until smooth, occasionally scraping sides of bowl.
2. With a tablespoon, spoon mounds of batter 2 inches apart onto baking sheets. Sprinkle half with crystal sugar. Bake 15 minutes or until tops are puffed and cakes spring back when touched. Transfer to a rack and cool completely.
3. To make filling: In medium bowl, with mixer on high speed, beat together butter, powdered sugar, marshmallow cream, and vanilla until smooth, about 3 minutes. Add a drop or two of food coloring, and mix to tint pink. Makes about 1-1/2 cups of filling.
4. Spread a rounded tablespoon of filling on flat sides of half the cakes. Top with other cakes.

Baby Shower & Bowling...

I had a busy Sunday, first I went to my friend Jessica's baby shower. Jess and her husband Patrick are expecting their first baby, Charlie he is due to arrive on April 18th. Jess has had a difficult pregnancy and has spent most of her pregnancy on bed rest, so the shower was actually held at Jess's house. My best friend Natalie and Jessica's Mom threw the shower. They had all kinds of yummy things to eat and my personal favorite, sherbet punch!
We are so excited for Jessica & Patrick and cannot wait to meet baby Charlie :)

These were darling little "C" cookies, that Natalie got for favors for the shower.

Mom to be.....

This was one of the things that I got Jessica, Charlie's 1st piggy bank :)

Meet Baby Charlie!

BFF's Jess & Natalie

After I left the shower, I met Dave and the boys for an afternoon of bowling with his family. We bowled two games and then went to have Pizza. It was a fun afternoon. Matthew & Michael love their cousins especially Josh. He is a year older than Matthew and the boys love playing with him. Since the boys are in different schools and we are all so busy, we do not get together as often as we should. It was a really fun time, an we look forward to the next time!

Bowling with the cousins, then we had pizza afterwords!

I had another blessed & wonderful weekend with my family and friends.
I am so thankful to God for all I have.

*Please take a minute and say a prayer for this family. They lost their precious
10 month old, Cora to Stage 4 cancer today.
