Hi/Lo Thursday

This post is part of "Hi/Lo Thursday" on Riggs Family Blog (http://www.riggsfamilyblog.com/)
This is a new post I am trying.....should be fun :)
The Hi part(s) of my week was/were my girls night dinner at my aunts on Tuesday. It is nice to get together with my cousins and my Aunt is an excellent cook. She made my Grandma & Grandpa's homemade meatballs and they were delicious!
Matthew's pinewood derby race was tonight, and it was so much fun to see the excitement on his face, while he raced his own car and rooted on all of his friends. He did not "win" the race, but boy did he have a GREAT time!
Also we are headed to TN. to see our good friends Vicki & Hunter and I am very excited to see their new house and visit, it has been too long!
The Lo part(s) of my week was/were Michael throwing up at Noodles & Company last night- from a noodle that was (too spicy). At least it was not the flu, but still embarrassing and gross.
My friend Sahar, is the Mom of Alec, a boy in Matthew's class.
Her Mother was diagnosed with Anaplastic carcinoma a VERY aggressive form of thyroid cancer, six months ago. Yesterday morning a little after 6:00 am. Sahar's mom made her journey to heaven. It is so sad, she was only 62 years old, and was taken away to soon. I hope that you will say a prayer for Sahar, I know that she can really use them!
Many of you know that I lost my own mother in April at the age of 60.....sooo -Yep, definitely a Lo part of my week!
I hope everyone has a blessed weekend!
I will be back on Sunday, with pictures from our trip to Tennessee......

Pinewood Derby 2009

Sometimes I am afraid to post prayer requests. My main reason is that I feel like there are sooo many people who need the power of prayer. There many that are my family & friends and others like this little girl who are in close in my heart.
I want to make sure that no one ever feels like they are left out....I am trying to figure out a way to have "all" prayer requests on my blog someday.

With that being said, I am asking all of to be praying for a sweet little girl named Abby and her family; she was adopted from Guatemala. At three years old, she was diagnosed with a high-risk, aggressive form of Leukemia. Certain genetic complications have put her chance of surviving her upcoming treatment at about 20%.
Abby and her family really need our prayers right now.
I hope you will visit her family blog here, and follow her story.
Check out this video that her Dad made:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-v1fLeI6gXY

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working

James 5:16

This is a wonderful healthy tea that is filled with antioxidants!
I make the whole recipe and heat it up as I want some, all week long.

Spiced Tea

6 individual tea bags (use decaf if you plan to drink this in the evening like I sometimes do when the kids are in bed).

2 tsp. whole cloves

2 sticks cinnamon

4 qt. boiling water

2 C. sugar (I used 1 C.)

2 C. pineapple juice

1 (6oz.) can frozen orange juice, undiluted

¾ C. lemon juice
Pour boiling water over tea bags, cloves and cinnamon; steep 10-15 minutes. Add remaining ingredients. Heat and serve.

This stores well in refrigerator or may be frozen.
I just boil the water in a large pot and add tea bags and then the rest. I added way less sugar, with all the rest it does not need it :)
Yields: 5 quartsTime to make: 20 min .

*Thanks Vicki for sharing this wonderful recipe! I LOVE it!

Basketball,Boys,Birthdays,Disney & More....

We had another crazy weekend..... Friday night we had a sleepover with a friend of Matthew's and a friend of Michael's. They are brothers Josh & Caleb. We had pizza and then went to Matthew's basketball game, where he scored one of the only baskets! Then home to try and wind 4 boys down for bed..........
On Saturday we woke up to the boys singing Happy birthday to Dad. Then I made pancakes for breakfast and Josh & Caleb left to go to hockey. We had lots of fun at the sleepover!
The we headed to Disney on Ice. We had the best time! I packed snacks and blankets and each boy picked a C@rs toy as their choice for their souvenir. After the show was over, Michael cried, because he wanted to watch more.....
We had lunch at this Jersey style pizza place in the city. It was very yummy! Some of the best pizza we have had in a long time! The chef sent out the best cannolis out for Dave's birthday, they were delicious!
We came home and got the boys settled so that we could go to dinner with friends. Dave's Dad & SMIL watched the boys, while we headed to the "new' casino downtown. We met our friends Teresa & Gene there, and found out that they are pregnant! They are having TWINS! 1 boy and 1 girl, we could not be happier for them!
We ate at the Burger Bar and it was excellent, then walked around for awhile to check things out. Our friends Diane & Rich met us out for drinks after dinner. We had a great time!

On Sunday, I taught Sunday school, then we raced home to finish things up before the triplets- monkey birthday party....It was so much fun! They bought a new bouncy house and had it set up in the garage. The triplets kept saying "jumpy-jumpy". They had so much fun bouncing everywhere. Then Lollipop the clown arrived. She was face painting and made some of the coolest balloons that I have ever seen. The kids had a blast! We bought them a new picnic table and birthday plates for them to use every year on their birthday.
We love you Jacob, Sophia & Liana!

Dave & Matthew left the party early to test their pinewood derby car. The race is this week....
Then Michael and I picked them up at home and we headed to dinner at Chili's with our friends Eric & Beth and their 3 girls, Olivia, Katie & Sophie. After that we went to the Magic House, our school rented it out for the night. It was so much fun to have the place to ourselves with all of our friends.....
Needles to say, I am STILL tired! Someday, we might slow down, but for now we sure had fun :)
I hope everyone else had a great weekend too!
