It's a Zoo out there......

We decided to take advantage of our temporary "winter warm-up", and head for the Zoo today. Unfortunately, I think everyone else had the same idea. We waited in traffic for over an hour before we finally got in the gate.
Michael must have asked us at least 15 times "Are we to the zoo yet?"...
We started with seeing the elephants, hippos, anteaters and more.....
Then we visited the Insect house, the boys were so excited to see the spiders, beetles and butterflies.
We stopped and had a snack and then Michael was dying to ride the train, so we waited in line and relaxed on a 20 minute ride around the zoo.
We were able to catch feeding time for the sea lions and then visit the reptile house, this is the boys favorite place for sure. They are obsessed with turtles, frogs, lizards and snakes. I have feeling that whether I want it or not, we will eventually have one of these for a pet :)

After spending the afternoon at the zoo, we decided to head to the Spaghetti Factory. The boys had been asking to go lately, and we decided that this would be the perfect time. There can sometimes be an hour or more wait, but since we were there before 5:00, we only had to wait about 15 minutes. We had a yummy dinner, full of lots of carbs :) We finished it off with dishes of spumoni ice cream for the boys. There was even a balloon guy that made each of them their own turtle to bring home. I don't even have to feed these :)
I love days like today.....when we have "nothing" to do, but do so much!

Oh this post made me so homesick, not only for STL but for my childhood. I can't remember how many times my parents took us to the Spag. Factory. To this day, my comfort food is brown buttered noodles with mizzithra cheese grated on top...and that spumoni ice cream...yum! The zoo looked wonderful too. Did you know one summer in high school I gave the tours on the trains? One of my most favorite jobs! Looked like you guys had a great day.
